tv and jumping

So Lately Dallin has been fascinated by the television, he will sit and watch it (usually we need to be sitting with him) for minutes on end. I don't know if this is normal, but he also just sits and listens and watches the speakers and teachers in church like he does in this video with the T.V. I'm convinced he has a good long attention span.

Cookies and flowers...

Can I just say how much I love love love fresh flowers! I picked these from my garden yesterday, and they smell so wonderful.

The lavender was the best, it just kept giving off the fresh scent all day. I think fresh cut flowers are the best room deodorizer ever. I think I need some for babies room.... diapers don't smell the best.

I also got on a cookie craze yesterday. I made a bunch of the yummiest cookies and took little treats to my neighbors that looked like this.... I had just cut some fresh flowers and decided to spruce the treat up a bit with lavender and blue bells.

Joe had a craving for cookies, so of course I left in a nice plate full just for him.... I love the look of the blue flowers with the creamy tan of the cookies, they just pop out of the picture.... I am a flower fiend I guess...

Joe is pretty much a cookie monster, and so this plate of cookies was demolished by 8am this morning. No cookies for Heather. Oh well, I guess I will just have to make some more:) By the way this recipe is the best I have ever had, here it is in case you want to make it.

Ingredients:

2 cups butter, softened to room temperature

2 cups white sugar

2 cups packed brown sugar

2 teaspoons vanilla extract

1 teaspoon salt

2 teaspoons baking powder

2 teaspoons baking soda

4 eggs

4 cups of all purpose flour

5 cups of rolled oats (powderized in a blender)

4 cups chocolate chips

8 ounces of finely grated chocolate bar

How to make:
Preheat oven to 350 degrees. Cream together the butter, white sugar, brown sugar, eggs and vanilla until throughly mixed. In a seperate bowl, mix the salt, baking powder, baking soda, flour, and oatmeal (make sure you measure out the amount of oats before you blend it, not after). Mix the the two bowls of ingredients togerher. Add the chocolate chips and grated chocolate bar. Bake on a greased cookie sheet (make golf ball sized balls, large I know, but they are the best that way) and bake for 8-10 minutes.

I like my cookies a little softer, so I cook mine for 9 minutes and let them sit on the sheet for 2 minutes before I remove them. The middle is a little gooey at first, but it hardens after a few minutes or so and is the perfect cookie consistency. Enjoy!
